Public Policy

Public Policy explores how interactions between state and non-state actors affect current issues and trends in politics, society, and statecraft. Articles address the role of the media in national affairs, the challenges and opportunities presented by strategic and regional alliances, and the prospects of democracy in Iran. Our authors include academic experts, and seasoned undergraduates in public policy.

Economics

Economics examines current trends in the global economy, both macro- and micro-. Contributions to this section have included analyses of the effects of international terrorism on international trade, assessments of regional financial scenarios, and prescriptions for the economics of development. The Journal planes to soon regularly publish interviews with high-profile business leaders to elucidate the corporate strategies and ambitions that affect global markets.

Law & Ethics

Law and Ethics presents advances and challenges in international and domestic law and frames ethical debates in public affairs. Top Duke students, along with philosophers, ethicists, law practitioners, advocates and scholars from around the world tackle some of the most challenging dilemmas of our day. Law and Ethics gives Journal readers a look at issues ranging from the recruitment of young soldiers in violent conflicts to the extradition of heads of state accused of war crimes and the ethical questions surrounding economic development in the world’s poorest areas.

In the Field

In the Field challenges Duke’s talented and well-traveled student body to produce insightful articles about ahead-of-the-curve issues they have observed first-hand through internships, jobs or study abroad. The articles they contribute to the Journal allow both undergraduate and graduate students to fuse coursework with real-world experience and, most importantly, participate in the public affairs debate that the Journal endeavors to promote.
