About
The Duke Journal of Public Affairs is Duke’s only undergraduate publications of its kind. This extraordinary project tasks students no matter their undergraduate year, to think critically about the world around them, to reflect deeply on the critical policy challenges that lie ahead, and to share their insights with the world in one of the most attractive and accessible forums of critical opinion available to for undergraduate research in the nation.
The Journal reflects the size and strength of Duke University’s Economics, Public Policy, and Political Science schools. With advisers from these and other major university departments, the bi-annual draws on talented undergraduate and graduate students from across many disciplines, asking them to reflect critically on the issues facing their future’s, their nation’s, and their world. Each issue reflects contemporary critiques of modern politics, analyzing practical and theoretical approaches to controversial modern issues.
Our mission is twofold. Foremost, it is to provide readers a breadth of perspectives, a holistic view of national & international affairs, and a forum reflecting the depth of experience required to truly understand the changing nature of our times. Second, it is to provide an outlet for the nascent political and ideological understandings of its authors, providing an opportunity for them to see, potentially for the first time, their critical ideas and opinions shared with the greater intellectual world at large.
